Im trying to test a battery module with the EV2400 and the bq28z620R. Both devices are updated to the latest FW. The set up is supposed to test qOCV charge and discharge cycles. The battery is conneced thorugh the BMS to a power load and supply. Everything works fine, until some hours later the communication starts failing and I get the error message "Not able to find a free communications adapter." It has happen during charge and discharge, after long hours and after short ones. I cannot see what the root of the issue could be and would be very thankful for further assistence.

This means that the OS doesn't provide a valid file handle to the EV2400 to bqStudio. The EV2400 is a USB HID device. bqStudio relies on the OS providing a file handle to this USB HID device. It sounds as if something breaks on your computer's USB sub-system (or the EV2400 is defective). I recommend making sure that your PC never enters a low power state which may cause problems with USB connections.

The computer is always connected to a power source+ we have tried different Computers with the same error coming up. SO probably its the EV2400 being defective?Thanks a lot!

I don't think it's a defective EV2400. Even if the PC is connected to a power source, please make sure that you disable low power modes in Windows (e.g. screen saver etc.).

It is all disabled, plus when looking into the windows events,nothing crops up at the time of th error.

Is there a time constrain for the operation with the logging function of bq studio?

No. There aren't time constraints. bqStudio doesn't manage the connection, Windows does. bqStudio gets a file handle from Windows when Windows detect the EV2400. So if there's a "Not able to find a free communications adapter." error, then Windows doesn't list this device in its device list anymore and bqStudio can't communicate. You can check, if the EV2400 shows up in Windows Device Manager. It likely is not there anymore when bqStudio throws this error.

The possible root causes then are:

1. EV2400 is broken

2. Somehow Windows loses the USB connection to the EV2400

I have tried at least 4 computers, with one (eventhough it is the correct version and it works without issues) it didnt connect at all, with the others, the same error cropped up. I do think the odds of this happening are extremly slim to none. Would you agree? Id like to have a confirmation so that I can finally get a replacement.

The odds are slim. I can't diagnose for certain that it's a broken EV2400 but if it fails on several computers, chances are that the EV2400 is defective.
