BQ4050: FCC not update

Part Number: BQ4050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: GPCCEDV,

Hi

I have a query need your help.

The CEDV parameters are calculated by the GPCCEDV tool. The FCC can update normal at the room temp. but can not update at the 0℃ 0.5C discharge.

Attached the log data and gg file.

Why the FCC not update at 0℃.

4050_1221.gg (2).csv

CEDV parameters resulting from the fit. If EDVV bit is set to 1, EMF and EDVR0 have to be multiplied by the number of serial cells when written to data flash

EMF	3444
EDVC0	440
EDVC1	0
EDVR1	135

Recommended SOC deviation tolerance at EDV2 point is < 5% for low temperature and <3% for room and high temperature

Deviations for this set of parameters are given below for each file

Deviations are within recomended range. CEDV parameters are suitable for programming the gauge

Waiting for your reply.

Thanks

  • Hello Star,

I think the biggest issue here is the overestimation in FCC. The BQ4050 updates FCC after the battery undergoes a qualified discharge from nearly full to a low battery level. This is not happening.

    Possible fixes are to:

1- Disable SYNC bit under CEDV gauging config register. The DCR initial value of FCC – RM is reduced by FCC/128 if SC = 1 (Bit 5 in Gauge Configuration). See below for DCR description.

2- Set the following for CEDV gauging config. Where circle is 1 and X is 0.

3- Change fixed EDV values to:

Gas Gauging CEDV cfg Fixed EDV 0 2516
Gas Gauging CEDV cfg Fixed EDV 1 2628
Gas Gauging CEDV cfg Fixed EDV 2 2755
