Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z50,
Hi Team,
Does the LLEN pin is used for balancing between different banks? Can anyone help in understanding the function of LLEN and its associated circuit shown in figure.
Regards,
Vishnu

Hello Vishnu,
The LLEN pin is used to apply a load to the top of the capacitor stack in order to learn the capacitance and ESR, this information can be found in the datasheet:

Hello Wyatt,
Do we need to perform learning cycle for super capacitors, like we did for learning batteries in BQ40z50?
Hello Vishnu,
It's not the same process as lithium ion batteries since capacitors have very standard equations for capacity. Periodically the gauge will run a discharge a charge cycle to update ESR and capacitance. You need to program the initial values.

Wyatt Keller
ok. That means we need not do a process like learning cycle like we did for learning batteries, meanwhile the capacitors gets charged and discharged the BQ33100 automatically learns. We just need to flash the initial values based on the capacitor used. Am I right?
Sincerely,
Vishnu
Hello Vishnu,
Yes that is correct, no learning cycle is needed, the BQ33100 will do the cycles automatically, and the capacitance and ESR for new capacitor should be uploaded initially in flash.
Sincerely,
Wyatt Keller
