Hi TI Team,

          We have selected UCC27211AQDDARQ1 gate driver for the replacement of Renesas gate driver ISL78434 in our motor control project(5.5kW 48V). can you suggest whether we can use this part UCC27211AQDDARQ1, if not kindly support us in selecting suitable TI part number for our application.

    Hey Siva,

    Thank you for your question regarding the UCC27211A-Q1.

    The UCC27211A-Q1 is a viable solution here, but we also just recently released a new product which is the UCC27301A-Q1 that would be a great candidate here.

    Can you share more about your system such as a block diagram or a schematic?

       Please find the above mentioned gate driver schematic in our motor control project(5.5kW 48V).  Gate driver input voltage is 12V and we have selected C11 as bootstrap - ceramic capacitor-0.33uf but in typical application it is mentioned as polarized one. whether it is ok to use ceramic capacitor and our nominal supply voltage is 48V.kindly suggest the if any changes is required.

    Hey Siva,

    We typically recommend that X7R ceramic capacitors be used for the bootstrap as well as the bypass capacitors. I am not sure where you saw it mentioned as a polarized capacitor but that is not what is recommended here.

    As for capacitor size selection, with the 0.33uF bootstrap capacitor, you will need a bypass capacitor that is at least 10 times larger than that and is also X7R ceramic. So, you could replace C10 or C9 (whichever is closer to the driver) with a capacitor of at least 3.3uF.

    I do not see any other apparent issues with the circuit.

    What is the purpose of the diode D11 on the supply?
