BQ27426: About GPOUT for exit shutdown

Part Number: BQ27426

Hi,

In the datasheet of the bq27426, in the pins description, We see the following sentence:

"It is recommended to connect GPOUT to a GPIO of the host MCU so that in case of any
inadvertent shutdown condition, the gauge can be commanded to come out of SHUTDOWN."

Can you clarify what it means "inadvertent shutdown"?

Can the device get into shutdown mode unexpectedly, independently?

How the system can detect that the bq27426 is in shutdown mode?

Thanks,

Leonardo
