Hello,

I am using the UCC21540DW gate driver for boost converter.

My question is if it is ok to connect the outputs of the fet drivers (OUTA,OUTB) directly to the fets and not to place a series resistors?

The IC will not damage by the drive currents?

Its for more compactible layout

Thank you for your interest in our device!

It is highly recommended to add an external gate resistor to mitigate noise at the gate of the FET that could be introduced due to parasitic inductances and capacitances. Adding a placeholder for the gate resistor can allow for different gate drive strengths to better optimize the performance.

For best performance, place the resistor as close as to the gate as possible. Refer to 10.2.2.4 of the datasheet:
