BQ24296: BQ24296MRGER Design Review needed

Part Number: BQ24296

Hi,

I would like to get a design review of the charger section implemented.

We have a lithium ion battery with typical voltage 3.8V, max 4.2V and 2.2Ah. Trying to charge at 1C.

Here is the circuit:

Trying to send the board for FAB in the next couple of days.

So any help in reviewing before that is really appreciated.

  • Hi,

Regarding your design I've made the following observations. If those are ok with you then the device schematic looks good.

    • The CHG_EN pin has a default pull up pin meaning that battery charging will be enabled, presumably the CHRGR_EN net has the ability to pull it low if need be.
    • The TS circuit looks good assuming a 103AT NTC on the battery pack.
    • ILIM is set to about 1.5A max
    • The BTST capacitor should be 47 nF. 100 nF may work but we don't spec the device at that value so I can't guarantee its behavior

    Best Regards,
