Hi team,

Could you let me know the theoretical basis of recommended output capacitance of TPS56209 (20uF-68uF) in the datasheet?

Is it coming from Eq. 11 and Eq. 15 in the app note slvaf11?

Also, is the Example of LC Design Method for D-CAP3 Converter from p.7 directly applicable to TPS563209 (D-CAP2) design?

Hi Kazuki,

The LC recommended in the datasheet comes from the simulation results of Designer. The Application Note did not exist at that time. However, the recommended value will be within the range of this calculation.

Theoretically, is the example of LC Design Method for D-CAP3 Converter from p.7 in the app note directly applicable to TPS563209 (D-CAP2) design?

Hi Kazuki-san,

Yes, this application note is applicable both for D-CAP2 and D-CAP3 converters.

Or you can directly follow the recommended table for TPS563209 in the datasheet.
