TPS22990: About the Ron control circuit

Part Number: TPS22990

Hello,

I would like to control the Ron pin of the TPS22990 as shown in the circuit. I want to apply 5V to Ron during power ON, and for operations like H/W Reset, I intend to control it from the MCU to apply 0V. However, I am facing issues with the control. How should I configure the circuit to toggle the TPS22990's Ron pin ON/OFF as described above?

Thank

  • Hi BongJo,

I would recommend one of two solutions:

    1. Control U153 VDD with the MCU instead of a constant 5V. ADG742 logic high is 2.4V, so this should work.

    2. Connect ON to U153 D through a resistor (to limit current when PMOS is active), then place a PMOS from ON to GND. This will require the MCU signal being high when you want TPS22990 to be enabled.

Will either of these work for you?

Also, as a note, if you are still in the design stage then I recommend using TPS22997/8 instead of TPS22990, as they are the next generation products of TPS22990 with lower Iq, smaller package, etc.

    Thanks,

    Patrick
