Low side is diode in this device. Is it non-synchronous rectification, correct? Does the device sink current from SW pin into GND thru the diode when output capacitance is large?

The small FET you see in the block diagram is only used to recharge the boot capacitor when operating at
high duty cycles and/or when there is not enough inductor current to recharge the capacitor during normal
operation.
The device is non-synchronous and must have a Schottky diode connected between SW and ground for normal
operation.
