BQ27Z561-R2: Cant finish learing cycle

Part Number: BQ27Z561-R2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TEST2

Hello experts,

After past testing and finding out that the best chemID is 233 with a 2% max error, I set it up on the IC,

I'm  trying to make a golden image on bq27z561R2 but I can't manage to pass the charging phase of the learning cycle,
I working according to the "slua903.pdf" guide, and I don't get the FC flag to rise after a finish charge.

My battery is 1 Cell 4000mAh and the charge current is about 3A,

my end of charge current Is about 270mA.

Here is the register's log,
4885.test2.zip

I would love your help in this subject.

  • Hello Kfir,

I took a look at your log and .gg file, for FC to set generally this means the gauge gets a Valid Charge Termination (VCT) which by default uses the advanced charge algorithm thresholds to qualify voltage. I see you set the Charge Term Charging Voltage to 4.2V which from the logs it looks like you finish charge, but the gauge is not using this value unless you set the TAPER_VOLT in the Charging Configuration register, which is 0 in your .gg files.

Settings Configuration Charging Configuration 0 hex

Please review the Valid Charge Termination section in the TRM for more details on the behavior.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
