TPS25200-Q1: Strange behavior of TPS25200-Q1 under short-circuit condition

Part Number: TPS25200-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS629210-Q1, TPS552882-Q1

Hellow,

I'm using the TPS25200-Q1 three times in my board. Twice for 3.3V switching and once for 5V switching.

TPS629210-Q1 feed power to the 3.3V switches. A second TPS629210-Q1 feed power to the 5V switch.

Following is the schematic of one of the three switches.

Below is also a result of a short of the output of the switch to GND.

Yellow waveform is the input voltage, i,e, the TPS629210-Q1 output. Blue waveform is the supply of the buck-boost TPS552882-Q1 that feed the TPS629210-Q1 and red waveform is the current through the short.

I expected to see the image of Figure 12 in the data sheet. Instead I see that the device does not enter short-circuit protection mode following Tios, the voltage to the device falls and the current is limited by the TPS629210-Q1 short circuit protection. from this results it looks like the devices are shorted input-to-output although I checked the device and there is no short between the input and the output.

  1. Why the device fail to enter short circuit protection?
  2. Why the device continue to operate and not shut down although its voltage drops below operating condition?

Regards,

Yossi
