TPS2553: High Iq

Part Number: TPS2553
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2552, TPS2552D, , TPS25221, TPS2556

Hello,

I find the supply current for no output load condition as around 100uA.

Is there a part supporting 6.5V input  & reverse current protection  that has lower supply current value for no output load condition ?

I don’t want parts having output discharge resistor which is a feature of some e-fuse. Please share.

  • Hello KrnB,

If the EN pin is LOW, the current should be closer to 1uA.

Unfortunately, while we do have other variants of the TPS2553 that also have reverse blocking, their supply current with no load and when EN is HIGH are the same and will be around 100uA.

    Hope this helps,

    Seong

  • Hello Seong,

Thanks for the reply. I believe that the higher current in TPS2553 family is because of charge pump requirement of  internal NMOS.

Is there any other part having less than 100uA supply current when enabled supporting 6.5V input voltage & reverse current protection (probably a back to back PMOS solution ) ?

    Are TPS2552, TPS2553,  TPS2552D & TPS2553D are recommended for new designs ?

  • Hi KmB,

TPS25221 is recommended for new designs, how about this one?

    Best Regards,

    Kuno

  • Hello Kuno,

Thanks for your reply. TPS25221 is only rated for max input as 5.5V. I am looking for maximum 6.5V input. Please can you share if  TPS2552, TPS2553,  TPS2552D & TPS2553D are recommended for new designs. Let me know if you see a long term risk of availability or support on any of these.

  • Hi KmB,

Sorry, I don't consider this part, yes, you can use the TPS2553, TPS2552D&TPS2553D in the new designs.

If you want the supply current is less than 100uA, how about the TPS2556/7.

    Best Regards,

    Kuno
