BQ76952: Positioning Fuse near to Pack+ or Back+

Part Number: BQ76952

Hi team,

I got a question from customer on BQ76952 design about how to position fuse.

1.We noticed in most of the designs we would put fuse near to B+ instead of P+. Is there any special considerations? Do you any potential problem if we put fuse near to P+?

2.Customer is trying to put 2 battery packs in parallel in their products. If fuse is on the B+ side, we are afraid that even when the fuse breaks, the current from another pack would flow into the damaged pack. So if it is better to put fuse on P+ side in parallel battery pack designs?

Thanks,

Brian

I don't believe so. Usually the MOSFETs are the first line of protection, then the FUSE. I don't see much difference in placing it in either place.

Then I believe that should be okay..
