Hi Team,

I am asking one more question related to BATFET. While inserting new battery(16.8V) without AC adapter do the body diode VGS of Q7 MOSFET do exceed rated VGS +/-12V.

I cannot read your whole statement. Your post is appearing to me as below. However, it looks like the question is entirely about Q7. Please reformate your question so that it is readable and post the question with CSD25402Q3A as the main part in organization HPV-FET.

Hi Munir,

When i am inserting new battery without AC adapter.
VBAT=16.8V
1) Q7 Drain - 16.8V
2) Q7 Source =16.8V(Through body diode)

3) Q7 Gate- 0V (Verfy first time inserting)

So VG-VS=0V-16.8V =-16.8V Does it exceeds Q7 VGS=+/-12 V max limit so that cant it get damage?

Hi Saravanan,

If VGS exceeds +/-12V, then there could be a problem with the FET. However, from the block diagram in the BQ25710 datasheet, it appears the BATDRV signal is limited to VSYS and VSYS-10V. Can the FET actually see the full 16.8V?

Hi John,

Pls confirm when i am powering up first time with battery alone condition what will be the intial state of BATDRV pin .0V or VSYS .I need to confirm whether VGS of Q7 doesnt exceed VGS=+/-12V.

Hi Saravanan,

VGS must not exceed +/-12V. I believe the apps team for the BQ device should be able to tell us what the voltage is on initial insertion. I will reassign this thread back to them.

Hi Saravanan,

At the time of battery insertion Q7 Gate is 5V. So VGS does not exceed 12V.
