I think there is a miscommunication here, as I mentioned earlier (please refer to what I said before), "use the WriteSMBusWord function in the TI library object AxBq80xRW1 to set the rechargeable Li-ion battery to shipping mode."

So, the hardware includes a USB cable which connects to the USB port in the laptop, and on the other side, it connects to the EV2300 HPA002. This EV2300 HPA002 then connects to an adapter which can hold a rechargeable Li-ion battery.

What the battery gauges for EV2300 looks like? 

We've been using the EV23000 and the PCB Battery Test Cradle, see photos front and back, for more than 10 years. I believe this is the battery gauges which is connected to V2300 and also where the battery sits on.

The Ev2300 is for communicating with older battery gauge EVMs, such as the BQ2084evm.
