TPS7A47-Q1: Input capacitance selection

Part Number: TPS7A47-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A47

Hi team,

I have some questions about LDO front-end capacitor selection. As mentioned in the user manual, the input voltage range of TPS7A47 is -0.4~36V, in Typical Application chapter, the input voltage is 5V with a capacitor selection of 10uF, if I give a voltage of 25V or 30V, how should I choose this capacitance value? and how is this calculated?

  • Hello,

You will want to stay with 10uF or more on the input of the LDO.  If ceramic capacitors cannot be used, you can try another option such as aluminum polymer or tantalum polymer if those will work for you.

See section 8.2.2.1 in the datasheet for additional guidance on input capacitance selection.

    Thanks,

    Stephen
