TL431: how to calculate this Iak

Part Number: TL431

Hi team,

My customer is using our TL431IPK and customer find the Iak is in the range of 1-100mA.

Could you please kindly help check if this spec is stable or change dynamically in an application?

And how to calculate this Iak?

Thanks,

Brian

  • Hello Brian,

The IKA is dependent on the input resistor, input voltage, VKA, and load current. If the input voltage and load current is stable, IKA will be stable

    input current = (Vin-VKA)/Rin

IKA = input current - load current.

IKA must be greater than 1mA at all times.

The reference current, Iref is a very small value compared to IKA.

    Best,

    Walter
