BQ77915: ESD Protection & TVS Diodes

Hey guys,

The BMS designs have been testing well

As you suggested, i followed the BQ77915EVM and added capacitors in parallel to the MOSFETS and between PACK- and PACK+ for ESD Protection

Are TVS diodes a necessary upgrade ? Do you have any reference documents for sizing and paralleling diodes for ESD protection ?

I found these documents but looking for something more specific to BMSs

Hi Muki,

I don't believe we have a reference document specifically for ESD diodes in BMSs, but here is our go-to document for ESD concerns (link). This mostly covers layouts, but I think you will find it useful nonetheless.

Regarding the TVS diodes, they aren't strictly necessary (most of our reference designs use Zener diodes) but they can be used.
