BQ34Z100-G1: Battery calibration - Battery charge and discharge fast

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: GPCCHEM

I'm doing battery calibration for this chip, Battery feature as below

CC_Threshold 540
Max_Error_Limit 100
Design_Capacity 600
Design_Energy 7700
SOH_Load_I
Cell_Charge_Voltage_T1_T2 3600
Cell_Charge_Voltage_T2_T3 3600
Cell_Charge_Voltage_T3_T4 3000
Charge_Current_T1_T2 100
Charge_Current__T2_T3 100
Charge_Current__T3_T4 30
JEITA_T1
JEITA_T2 0x0A 10
JEITA_T3 0x2D 45
JEITA_T4 0x37 55
Design_Energy_Scale 0x0A 10

Done the voltage (12.8), temperature (26 deg) and Current (with load of 1amps) calibration.

SOC register value is reading is less value 2 or 6 ect below 15.

What is reason for reading wrong value?

Also battery charge and discharge fast ,  with in 5 min the getting charge fully (12.8 v), discharge in 1 hr or 30 min. what is the reason?

what is the reason for charge and discharge fast?

the above configuration data is correct design energy ?

Design energy = design capacity/design energy scale* 12.8(nominal voltage)

please provide th

  • Hi,

I am a bit confused on what you're asking. It sounds like you are having an SOC error. Can you explain what you mean when you say "SOC register value is reading is less value 2 or 6 ect below 15."?

How long are you expecting your battery to last? Why are you concerned that the rate of discharge is related to the battery gauge?

    In terms of SOC error...

Did you use the GPCCHEM tool and bet a match with less than 3% dod error?

Did you perform a learning cycle after this and get to learned status 06?

    Regards,

    Evan

  • I am a bit confused on what you're asking. It sounds like you are having an SOC error. Can you explain what you mean when you say "SOC register value is reading is less value 2 or 6 ect below 15."?

Means wrong value the battery fully charged 12.8v but soc reading value is below 15 .

Did you use the GPCCHEM tool and bet a match with less than 3% dod error?

No, but chemistry ID is correct , AA portable power :0439.  AA portable power cell i'm using.

Did you perform a learning cycle after this and get to learned status 06?

no battery charge and discharge fast with in 5 min getting fully charge.

  • Hi,

    Thank you for clarifying.

I would confirm you have a proper CHEMID match with the GPCCHEM tool, if you do not have a match with less than 3% DOD error this will cause SOC errors.

A successful learning cycle is required to get an accurate SOC reading.

I would also verify that your gauge is properly reading temperature, current and voltage. These are crucial parameters for Impedance Track.
