TPS23881: Sifos PDA600 PHY min Port question

Hi expert,

May we know if you have experience on Sifos PDA600 PHY min Port test? My customer would like to know how to design the value, is it 50V? They are testing Sifos MPSViolation_4 and found out current is lower than 16mA. Other vendor(ADI) recommend they to use 802.3bt clause 145 definition on Vport_pse-2p to set it. But their IEEE team would like to follow 43.5V to set it. So they would like to know our recommendation for it, and the reason. Thanks a lot!

Hi Ann,

TPS23881 is an IEEE802.3bt standard device, the Sifos PDA600 is an IEEE802.3at tester. In order to get accurate test report, you will need to use Sifos 802.3BT tester as the spec has changed certain parameters that are reflected in the testing suite. Specifically, MPS standard has changed in 802.3bt standard to support new MPS which is why the current is below 16mA threshold, since TPS23881 uses BT MPS.
