BQ27Z746: Oops! I tried to change the i2c address and now I can't find the chip

I tried to change the address from the default 0x55 to 0x80 (I randomly picked this but I realized I should have picked a better one).

Using BQStudio I put:

Alt I2C Address = 80

Alt I2C Addr Chk = 80

Then I turned off power

Turned power back on

Opened up BQStudio and ran the "scan all addresses" and it could not find any devices.

Any recommendations on how I can undo?

Hi Morgan,

Can you try 0x55 as the device address? It looks like the gauge defaults to 0x55 if the change was not successful.

If the above cannot still solve the issue, I recommend swapping addresses between 0x00 and 0xFF and add a break statement to see which one is the new address.

It did not find the default 0x55 address. It can not find any i2c devices at all.

I tried BQStudio and Raspberry pi using "i2cdetect"

Hi Morgan,

It sounds like the device might be brick. Check the voltage at the TS pin or the GPO pin and see if it's greater than 0V.
