TPS51200: do we have ABS rating for Vin? we need short term spec like within 20ns

Part Number: TPS51200
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS63810

Hello expert,

Do we have ABS max rating for Vin? We used TPS63810 for the front end and power 3.3V to TPS51200 VIN. But it seems like there is start-up spike up to 3.6V. We would like to know if you can provide ABS voltage rating for short term(within 20ns or one short period) so that we can know if this 3.6V is okay to use. Right now from datasheet, it shows 3.6V as ABS max. But we would like to know if TPS51200 can support that kind of spike during start-up. Thanks a lot!

Best regards,

Ann Lien

  • Hi Ann,

Some devices have a datasheet specification for a short-term Abs Max like you are asking for, but this is an older device and does not have this type of specification in the datasheet. Normally for newer devices we could reach out to the design team to get confirmation for this type of situation, but in this case we do not have this option since it was designed several years ago. So unfortunately we cannot guarantee a short term spike is okay, so you should try to ensure the VIN pin voltage does not go above the 3.6V abs max voltage.

    Best regards,

    Matt
