TPS536C7: If we connect opposite way for input current sense, could we use calculated_IIN*Vin for input power?

Hello expert,

We connect opposite way for input current sense like CSP/CSN swap, and we would like to report input power value from PMBus. And we ignore input current sense by set READ_IIN as Calculated IIN. But we still got negative input power on this way. May we know if we could get positive input power when we connect opposite way on CSP/CSN? Thanks a lot!

Hi Ann,

If you connected your CSP/CSN pins to correct polarity and set your READ_IIN to read from the current sense pins, you should see a positive power reporting (given everything is regulating correctly). Are you reading this from the Fusion GUI or an independent setup?

I would like to know what will happen when we use the negative polarity for it since customer has the incorrect circuit and cannot be modified in this moment. Could you double check if there is any side effect on it? I believe no and only cannot report input power correctly, right?

Hi Ann,

Do you mean CSPIN and VIN_CSNIN or CSPx from the power stages? Connecting CSPIN and VIN_CSNIN to incorrect polarity will give you incorrect telemetry readings and should not have any side effects. If you do not want to use it, you can tie it together to GND.
