LM5642: Interleaved buck regulator from +25V to +6.3V with +24A max current load

Part Number: LM5642
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM25143

Hi everyone,

I am an electronics engineer from France, and this is the first time I use this Interleaved Buck topology. Firstly, I decided to choose a Constant ON-time controller for achieving my power stage with high rapidity, but it appears really unstable at high load current operation.

So I research an other technology of controler instead of COT. To facilate the layout in reduced space, I choose to look at Valley or Peak current measurement instead of average current measurement that is really hard to implement in my small overall dimensions, 4 layers and all components on the top.

Therefore, here is my question : does the LM5642 is a suitable controler for high current intervealed buck topology ? Specifically for this level of power on the output. I don't see any current limitation in the datasheet, but I prefer to ask here. I will use SiR186LDP MOSFETs (reasonable Ciss/RDSon ratio for the current level) and Wurth 74435581000 10µH 21A inductors for each phase.

I sum up the stage specifications below :

* INPUT : +25V +8A max

* OUTPUT : +6.3V +24A max (+12A max for each phase)

*Frequency : Fsw < 250kHz for maximising efficiency

Thanks in advance for future answering,

Cordialy,
