I am planning to use Bq76952 and Bq76942 in stacked configuration.

I would like to know how to achieve synchronization between Bq76952 and Bq76942.

Can the MCU read the data from both the AFEs at the same time or is there any delay.

How is Bq76952 communicating with Bq76942.

Hello Harish,

You cannot synchronize the stacked devices, each is running independently from each other. In order to communicate with both AFEs at the same time, you'd need to change the address from one of the AFE's. Additionally, isolation may be required to communicate with the upper device.

Thanks for your feedback.

I2C isolator will be used between MCU and upper AFE as mentioned in TIDA - 010247

In order for MCU to get data at the same time from both the AFEs what address we need to set? are you talking about I2C address.

Also what will be the delay between two AFEs

Hello Harish,

Yes, I am talking about I2C address. You would need to change the I2C address to communicate with both IC's.

As they would have different addresses, they would not be able to communicate with the MCU unless it calls to its specific address. So I don't think there's really a way to say what delay there is between AFE's.

Hello Harish,

I'd recommend you read the Technical Reference Manual (TRM) of this device. I2C address is mentioned in Section 9.2 I2C Communications Subsystem.

This device is a complex, every detail of how the device functions is explained in the TRM.

Also read the BQ769x2 Software Development Guide to understand how programming of the device works.

But in section 9.2 they have not given about stacked devices, Like I2C address of AFE1 & AFE2.

Is there any application note which explains about setting I2C address for Stacked AFE configuration and initially what will be the address and how to change it

Hello Harish,

If you read Section 9.2, it mentions mentions what is the I2C address and how to change the I2C address. So for one of your stacked devices, you would need to change the I2C address.
