BQ27426: Ra Update issue

Part Number: BQ27426
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hi expert,

My customer is using BQ27426 in their projects. And they found it very hard for Ra to update to a new value under battery aging test. We know that the FCC of the battery will have a huge error if Ra cannot update. I summarized the Ra table updating conditions below:

1. During the discharge process, the impedance is recalculated when passing a DOD grid point.

2. Satisfy battery resting conditions: Voltage lower than 4uV/s. Current lower than sleeping current.

3. When VOK and RUPDIS are set to zero. Ra table is allowed to update to a new value.

The question is when doing test, the RUPDIS reg will never change to zero. And the customer's application cannot realize full discharge, but it can ensure that it passes the Ra grid point. Do we have other Ra-update conditions that we haven't met? Theoretically, during the use of the battery, Ra will definitely update according to the aging of the battery. Could you please help give some comments on this? This is the most important issue for customer systems to meet their needs.

Jiaqi

  • Hello Jiaqi,

Can you share the .gg file of their configuration or the settings they have changed and a BQStudio log showing the behavior? Generally the reason resistance updates are disabled is due to negative resistance estimated or very long time since relax.

    Sincerely,
