Hello Rakesh / whoever,

using TPS48110/TPS12110 for unidirectional 1kW bdc / breaker application

I am wondering if there is any reason we couldn't connect current sense across mosfet and use its RDSON as current sense?

Secondly, could the sense resistor be downstream in a B2B NFET config?

Hi DJ,

TPS48110/TPS12110 does not support RDS as current sense or placement of current sense on the output side.

Why current sense on output side is preferred ?

Thank you Rakesh,

I was looking at TPS4800. The option to use mosfet RDSON as the sense resistor is fantastic as well, however I am not sure if the RTM date in June will align with the product cycle.

The reason to have rsns on low-side is to have a seperate current sense amplifier for power metering purposes to allow it to be protected from transients /reverse polarity from battery side

Understood on the use case.

LM74912-Q is another option with FET RDSON based short-circuit protection. It is a released product.
