EU regulation 32023R1542

Hi,

do you have any solutions that meet EU regulation 32023R1542?

  • Hello Sebastian,

All standards and regulations are listed here:  https://www.ti.com/support-quality/certifications-and-standards/industry-standards.html  .  I do not see the one you referenced on this list.  The document is quite lengthy and involved and seems to be directed at environmental issues with batteries.  As stated on page 1:  "concerning batteries and waste batteries.

TI does not produce batteries, so I'm not seeing where this regulation would apply.  I do see a general reference in the regulation to charging/discharging for electric vehicles for overcharge protection, and this would be at the top-level design, not device specific.

If there is some other aspect of this regulation that would apply to ICs, please let us know.

    Regards,

    ~Leonard

  • This is a new EU regulation that comes into force in the middle of this year.

It concerns, among others: light vehicles, portable devices/batteries, etc. The regulation covers battery parameters, e.g. its expected life and performance.

e.g. ANNEX IV and ANNEX VII:

  • Hi Sebastian,

Apologize for the delay. From charger side, there is no particular features added in the charger for the EU regulation. I am assigning this to the battery monitor and protector team if they have any comment on this.

  • Sebastian,

As my other colleagues have said we do not produce anything that will specifically meet this regulation. Due to the novelty of this field, standards are varied around the word and constantly evolving. It would be impossible for us to specifically certify our devices with each of the worldwide standards, especially when most standards apply to the top-level design. However, our devices have a large number of features and it is quite likely that they could be used to meet this standard.

    Regards,

    Ben
