TPS650332-Q1: How to choose the output L and C.

Part Number: TPS650332-Q1

Hi team,

My customer is using our TPS650332-Q1 device.

They find when use WCCA to analysis, they need to choose  Isat/IItemp>1.5*ILmax to choose the inductor, but our datasheet says only need Isat >ILmax is OK. Have we consider the temp and other factors? Do they need to reserve some margin for the choice?

Also for the C, is it only need to VRIPPLE_PWM_PtoP>△Vout?

Thanks,

Brian

  • Hi Brian,

Yes, the ILmax calculation should use the worst-case inductance (think of 'L' as 'Lmin') due to variation from temperature, saturation, accuracy, etc. After that, a margin of at least 100-200mA is recommended.

Regarding Cout, use a 10uF/X7R capacitor with appropriate DC voltage rating. The bucks are internally compensated on this device, so please use the datasheet recommended value.

    Thanks,

    Gerard
