TPL7407LA: Configuration with two seprate grounds

Hello Community,

We are having a use case where the MCU is powered by a isolated 100mA power supply while the TPL7407 shall be powered by a separate supply, but both of these share a common AC power input.

I was wondering if we can still use the TPL7407LA in this use case where we interface the GPIO's of the MCU to control the TPL7407LA's outputs.

Kindly suggest if this configuration might rather cause unexpected behavior. We can assume both the grounds are at near/close to 0V or atleast simialr potential.

    Hi Neet,

    The input and output share grounds (input is connected to GND via 1MegOhm // (50kOhm + OVP diode)), so please make sure this will still work for your application. If not, you would want to look into an isolated switch.

    Aside from that, as long as the two grounds are similar in voltage, it should be fine - please test this to be sure it works in your system though.
