TLV61070A: Please comment to this using case

Part Number: TLV61070A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61021A, TPS61299

Hi team,

Our customer is looking for the device that is able to use below requirements:

Vin : 0.7V to 1.5V(AA battery)

Vout : 5V

Iout : 300mA

I search the device but there is no device much upper requirements. TLV61070A need 1.3V to start up, so when the battery voltage decrease under 1.3V, this device can't start up.

And in this requirements, input current is over 2A(TLV61070A's min current limit).

So I want to know if below using is possible by TLV61070A or TPS61021A?

Please some comment to below using or tell me other recommend device if you have.

Best regards,

teritama

  • Hi teritama,

I think TPS61299 can meet your requirements.

    Best Regards,

    Travis

  • Hi Travis,

    Thank you for reply.

But current limit of TPS61299 is 1.2A. I think that if input 0.9V to output 5V/300mA @efficiency=90%, input current is 1.85A, this is over current limit in requirement condition.

And I forgot cost requirement, the customer's target price is around $0.2. So I chosen TLV61070A and TPS61021A.

Please check again in this requirement?

    Best regards,

    teritama

  • Hi teritama,

TPS612997 has 1.9A current limit, but I think your AA battery is hard to output 1.85A. Especially when voltage drops down to 0.9V. The battery will be damaged or out of energy in a few seconds.

    Best Regards,

    Travis

  • Hi Travis,

Thank you. It make sense. I'll propose it to our clients as an option.

About cost requirement, Could you comment to configuration of TLV61070A and TPS61021A?

Do you think this usage is OK?

    Best regards,

    teritama

  • Hi Teritama,

You can use the device with the voltage doubler for dual output. But both device does not support a separate Vin. They use COT control which calculates ton by Vin and Vout. And the Vin is sampled by Vin pin.

If this is a big share, we recommend sending e-mail to our support list so that we can loop our marketing team to discuss the pricing issue.

    Best Regards,

    Travis

  • Hi Travis,

    Thank you for comments.

I understand this device not support separate Vin because of COT control.

we'll try the price negotiation according to customer requirements.

    Best regards,
