UCC28C58: From UC3842 to UCC28C58

Dear e2e support,

Our UCC28C58 offers a great pin to pin alternative to the UC3842; improving by ~10x the quiescent current.

Do we have any collateral (similar to our Design Note DN-89) to compare these two solutions, in order to better understand if minor hardware changes could be done to upgrade existing customer designs?

Or would you have other solutions, similar to the UC3842, but offering low quiescent current in idle mode?

Regards,

  • TISL,

I like your suggestion to extend DN-89 to cover UCC28C4/5y devices and I will mention it to my colleagues as a possible revision. In the meantime, we don't currently have available any new collateral to compare UCC28C5x to UCC28C4x but a summary of improvements is given below:

    UCC28C4y

    UCC28C5y

    Abs Max VDD

    20V

    30V

    Start-up current Max

    100uA

    75uA

    Operating current Max

    3mA

    2mA

Fsw Accuracy (Full VDD & Tj Range)

    ±7.5% for 53kHz

    ±3.7% for 53kHz

    SiC UVLO

    No

    Yes

If you are familiar with designing with Uc3842 and the UCC28C4x, the UCC28C5x is just a easy and now offers a broad choice of UVLO options upgraded to be compatible with the unique driving voltage requirements of SiC/IGBT discretes.

    Regards,

    Steve
