TPS552892-Q1: Power management forum

Part Number: TPS552892-Q1

Hi,

I'm using TPS552892-Q1 to get 10.5V output, i have tried multiple time, it will freeze to some percentage for hours, it never went to 100 Percent. I have attached the parameters for the circuit I'm working.

these are the error i got

It will even throw error after running for too long. saying node are not converged. it runs for a some percentage, then waveform freezes but the simulation will still be running. once i even saw Supply stepping to zero volt when it was pure DC Volt.

Thank you.

  • Hello Varsha D,

The expert for this device is out of the office this week. As far as I can see, you are talking about the pSpice model of this device, right?

Let me try to find maybe a pSpice expert that might be able to help.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte

  • Hi Varsha,

I was able to download the reference design locally. There's a problem with how it was uploaded and we're working to fix that.

Looks like it simulates fine, but there may be differences in the circuit from what you are runninig.

I can send you this test bench if that would help.

    Regards,

    David

  • Hi David,

    Thank you for replying,

yes please! if you can share it would be help.

    Thank you.

  • Hi David:

I think the symbol you are using and the symbol in PSpice for TI is different.

    Also the behavior is different.

we are using internal VCC which means EXTVCC should be pulled up to high , instead your symbol shows pulled to ground. The circuit is no behaving as expected.

you have pulled it to ground and using internal VCC (idieally there is no external 5V or VCC connected, I am surprised as to how it worked).

The only model available in Pspice for TI is

we are struggling from last week to fix this issue, it being an encrypted model we are unable to run it any other simulator.

I hope TI is able to fix the issue.

    Regards

    Ishwar

  • Hi David,

Sharing you file that I'm having issue, please can you check it.

    Parameters are,

    1.      Vin(range)= 4(min), 7, 16(max) V
    2.      Iout  = 2.5A
    3.      Switching frequency = 250kHz
    4.     Vout = 10.5V

I have tried attaching whole file but could not attach.

Help with the design sharing it, or share correct Pspice model for this Automotive Grade IC.

    Thank you.

  • My test bench attached. As noted, there is a problem with what was provided originally.

Any question regarding operation in regard to EXTVCC will need to be addressed by Brigitte or someone else from that product line.

    TPS552892_Encrypted.zip

Please start with this test bench and then modify as you see fit.

After unzipping, you can use Open and navigate to the .opj file. Everything should run smoothly at that point.

    Let's see how that goes.

    David

  • The simulation with the zip file you shared is much faster.

changed some components. previous file of ours rarely reached or completed the simulation run.

    Thanks. This would help.
