BQ25895: How to set charging current if D+/D- pin is floating?

Part Number: BQ25895

Dear TI experts,

My customer wants to find the way to set with the status of D+ and D- pins are floating.

Is there any way to set charging current up to 2A using register setting or something else while D+ and D- pins are floating?

(of course my customer will use adapter which can deliver over 2A charging current.)

Best regards,

Chase

  • Hi Chase,

    Please see my comments below.

Yes it is possible to configure the BQ25895 device for 2A charging even with D+/D- pins floating. To achieve this customer will need to set IINLIM register value (REG00 bits 5:0) following the conclusion of D+/D- detection. D+/D- detection is expected to be complete within a couple seconds of input adapter plug in.

In addition to setting the IINLIM register customer will need to ensure ILIM resistor is an appropriate value to allow up to approx. 2A input current. For example RILIM = 180 ohms will set input current limit just below 2A. Alternatively, ILIM pin function can be disabled by setting EN_ILIM = 0 (REG00 bit 6).

Let me know if there are any further questions on this topic.

    Best Regards,

    Garrett
