BQ76200

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76200

Hello Support Team ,

Currently I found issue in my Hardware , Issue is regarding Getting Voltage Between  Pack+ and Pack-  in totally off condition of BMS (like without Cell taping and ESP off ) ,

in resolving process what i found is , when I remove both  Diode b/w B+ and B- as well as Pack+ and Pack- there is no voltage at Pack , so I want to know why this happen in my hardware and I want to know what is role of this diodes

Remove D1 and D6 , D5 is DNPPack-

  • Hello Krutik,

I do not see how these would cause a voltage on PACK+.

What is the state of the CHG/DSG FETs? If the PACK+ side is floating (No load is attached), any leakage currents on the PACK+ side may cause the voltage to rise.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Luis,

Thanks for reply in short time

Here I am not turn on the BQ76200 IC so it is completely off state and ,
1.about the status of my CHG/DSHG FET is totally turn off .
    2. Also my Pack side is not floating ,  I connected  load on Pack+ side , In this scenario my battery start to discharge (7 amp @ 6.3ohm ).

I would like to know how this diodes are provide path to flow current in  the  off state of the CHG/DSG FETs.
also the role of this diodes in circuit (as per my knowledge D1 and D5 for  transient voltage events and  D6 for provide a free wheel path or reverse polarity protection ) is there any other reason to place this diode.

  • Hello Krutik,

The diode should not be able to have current flowing, unless somehow PACK- is causing the diode to be forward-biased. I'd recommend you measure the voltages around the board to see where current could be flowing from.

Correct, they are for transient voltages or reverse-polarity/free-wheel path. The transient diodes also provide a path for ESD current. Those would be the only reasons why to have them.

Again, there should be no current flowing, unless protections are being by-passed somehow.

    Best Regards,
