BQ76942: SPI of BQ7694203

Hi,

I am going to use the SPI of BQ7694203 IC and the communications should be done in a 5V level. I am planning to use the REG1 of BQ7694203, for which the datasheet suggests that the REG1 is automatically enabled to 5.5V in the device, which supplies the SPI. Please let me know do I need to connect any external 5V to the REG1 PIN in BQ7694203 or it is truly enabled in the device itself?

Hello Goutam,

For the BQ7694203, REG1 is enabled to 5-V by default, so no need to program it externally. Keep in mind that the REG1 LDO is powered through REGIN, so the BJT circuitry is required to provide the input voltage to the REG1 LDO.

I have a onboard 5V DC-DC converter. I am planning to connect the external 5V as shown in the Fig. Will it work like this?

Hi,

I dont know why I am unable to upload the image here. Anyway I will just explain you how I connected that. I have shorted the BREG and REGIN PINs and supplied them from a 5V onboard external regulator and bypassed by a 22nF Cap to GND. Also I have grounded the REG1 and REG2 PINs by 2 bypass Caps of 1uF to GND. Will this work? Also, I had one more doubt, the SPIs will be powered by REG1? or I have to enable REG1 internally to power the SPIs?
