Good morning,

I'm overseeing the design and production of a power converter for a particle accelerator, High-Luminosity LHC project.

Currently we use a contactor to connect or disconnect our power converter from the 3 phase grid. We use the LC1D18 (3 poles).

I am looking for an alternative device.

Specifically a relay that has similar (ratings, isolation, norms, etc), that has feedback pins to know if it is open or closed and that is PCB mounted.

What device you recommend?

    Hello Rodolfo,

    Our TPSI305x-Q1 devices can drive any MOSFETs at 10-V or 15-V Vgs. The challenge is typically with finding MOSFETs rated for the needed power, but provided those MOSFETs exist, the TPSI305x-Q1 can drive them. However, there is no feedback on the TPSI305x-Q1 to detect MOSFET state outside of using the EN to drive high or low.

    However, we have a device RTMing in December 2024: TPSI3100-Q1. This device functionally is like the TPSI305x-Q1 devices with integrated comparators on the secondary-side and respective pins on the primary status to indicate the status of the comparators. I'm imagining a use-case here where the comparators can be connected to indicate the MOSFET status. Let me know if this device would be of interest so my team can help prioritize accordingly.

    Thank you for the recommendation. I will consider it.

    I was thinking of another approach, by using a relay such as the KHAU series.

    We already have the circuit to drive the contactor LC1D18 and to check the feedback pins, the ideal would be to have some relays for 3 phase that we could mount in a PCB (this would permit us to do the connections within the PCB and use MATE-N-LOK connectors (eliminating the crimp terminals).

    If there is a contactor such as the LC1D18 which is PCB mounted instead of rail mount, that could be an option.

    Hello Rodolfo,

    Unfortunately we do not have a PCB-mounted contactor replacement that would be a drop-in replacement here. Our 3xxx devices are drivers, which must be paired with a selected transistor in order to form a solid-state relay. Please let me know if you have further questions.
