BQ25792: Pin functionality

Part Number: BQ25792
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25750,

Hi everyone!

I am fairly inexperienced engineer and still trying to manage something with USB-PD applications. Speaking of which, my project is supposed to be a single-cell battery powered device and I decided to use the TPS25750/BQ25792 solution. PD Controller was quite straight forward to connect, but with BQ25792 I'm getting slightly confused, especially with QON, CE and INT pins. Are they necessary to connect to the Controller or can be just grounded? I'm not even sure if I need their functionality (would be great to get some examples) and what exactly is this ship mode? Overall, I made a single input configuration on the BQ as shown in the datasheet, I will attach schematics of both TPS and BQ chips below, maybe you will see something abnormal somewhere else. Anyway, Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Domantas

  • Domantas,

If not used, /QON and INT must be left floating.  /CE is charge enable and must be either tied to ground or a GPIO to pull it to GND when charging the battery is desired.

INT provides a 128us interrupt pulse to a host processor to indicate that the charger has experienced a change in state, fault, etc.

/QON provides a method to exit ship mode (lowest Iq state for charger to reduce battery discharge while equipment is being shipped to final destination) or to induce a system reset.
