TPS4811-Q1: TPS48111-Q1 Reverse battery protection

Part Number: TPS4811-Q1

Hi TI-Team,

currently i'm designing with TPS48111-Q1 a B2B constellation with pre-charging C-Load, like the design in data sheet figure 10-14.

Because of reverse battery connection might be possible i further was reading app note SLUAAN7. Described are methods for protection with diode D1 and R4 in parallel, figure 2-2, and another one a FET Q4 which is connecting two different grounds. One is the local ground used by TPS and his components, the other one is the system groung e.g. PGND.

I decided to use the FET because of offset to the control pins produced by the diode solution.

Question:

If the battery is connected reverse the FET opens the ground connection. In my opinion now TPS has a floating ground!

Is this harmfull to TPS?
What are the effects of floating groung to the protection circuit?
Is it possible to solve this problem in another way?

Thanks for help!

Best regards

Tom
