TPS2121: Disable Power Mux with SS pin

Part Number: TPS2121
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2117

Hello, I want to reduce the Iq of 300uA on TPS2121.

Since there is no enable pin available, can i use the SS pin to disable the Mux.

To keep the Mux in low current disable state, I plan is to shunt the SS pin with a FET parallel to SS cap.

To enable the Mux in low current disable state, I will open the FET & let SS cap charge.

Do you see any concern with this idea ?

  • Hi KmB,

I would suggest using the OVx pins to enable/disable the device instead, as that is more in line with how the device was intended to be operated.

Though, I don't know what Iq the device would have when the OVx pins are high, you would need to test that as the data sheet does not spec it.

If the input voltages are below 5.5V, I'd recommend TPS2117, which has a 1.32uA typ Iq.

    Will either of those work?

    Thanks,

    Patrick
