UCD9222+UCD7242

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD9222, UCD7242

Hi,all

I am using the C6670 for design. And I know the UCD9222+UCD7242 should be used to provide the C6670's Core Power supply. But I don't understand what role does the UCD9222 or the UCD7242 play in the combination of UCD9222+UCD7242? What exactly work does they do? I didn't get this from datasheet. So please help me.

Thank you

Nick

  • The UCD9222 most basic function is to monitor the processor supply voltage which is used to control the pulse width modulation applied to the mosfet driver (UCD7242) which switches the synchronous buck converter to process the bulk voltage rail (5V to 12V) down to the processor's requirement (1V).

    Hi,Brad

Thank you for your answer. I have one more question. Does the PWM control the UCD7242 to provide 1V to 6670? If there is instabilty of the 1V, how does UCD7242 know and how to adjust it?

    Thank you

    Nick

  • The UCD9222 controller handles the PWM processing to acheive the desired output voltage based on configuration and compensation and the UCD7242 driver takes this logic PWM signal and applies it to the power stage.

    Brad,

I know that before use UCD9222, you should program properly. How to program the UCD9222? Are there some examples on TI website? Fusion Digital Power Designer User Guide is a GUI for us to program UCD9222, right? What I need is only this one and a USB-TO-GPIO to download program? What do I need else?

    Thank you

    Nick
