LM5143A-Q1: Datasheet specifies 100A but WebBench only supports up to 40A

Part Number: LM5143A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5143

I am interested in the LM5143 to generate 50-60A at 12V from 48V source. The datasheet shows it is capable of systems up to 100A but the WebBench design builder only allows currents up to 40A? Can the part really go over 40A? If so, are there any example schematics supporting that?

Thanks in advance

  • Hello Paul,

The specified currents of 100A is assuming a 4phase design, you can go over the 20A per phase, but will need to manage the power losses/thermals as a result of high current per phase.  this is not supported through webench.  you can download calculator and configure the phases which calculator will determine losses in each power stage.

See example of a 4-phase design below.

    Hope this helps.
