REF3133: Clarification on REF31xx current rating

Hi,

The REF31xx datasheet lists +/- 10 mA as the current rating, but then in 7.3, Recommended Operating Conditions, it lists 20mA. Is that a datasheet error, or can this part actually be used to 20mA? This same question was asked, but unanswered in this post. I was trying to find an automotive version of REF3033, which has a 20mA current rating.

Can I ask for more details on your application and why 20mA source current is required?

I would suggest to stay within the ±10 mA range for REF3133. If 20mA is required, REF20-Q1 ( https://www.ti.com/product/REF20-Q1 ) is an automotive grade reference that can source up to 20mA of current.

We use these precision references for various purposes and occasionally use the REF30xx up close to its 25mA rating, so in trying to find an AEC-Q100 version for general purpose use, we'd like to avoid selecting one with a much lower current rating.

Hi Andrew,

REF20-Q1 is the best option for an AEC-Q100 qualified reference with current sourcing up to 20mA that we have available. I would suggest considering that device.
