LM3481: For isolated LED driver application

Part Number: LM3481
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5155

Hi,

Does LM3481 possible to using for below LED design? Seems it can't  fix output current?

DC-DC LED Constant Current Waterproof Isolated Power Supply 200W Specifications:

Input Voltage Range: DC24V (18-28V)

Input Current: 8.34A @24V LED Output

Voltage Range: DC48~56V; (Typ: 51.8V, 18 series LEDs)

Total Lamp Power: 200W

Thanks!

Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

All isolated flyback devices from our portfolio are voltage controllers and no current controllers.
However, it should be possible to limit the output current with an additional sensing circuit and feeding this signals into COMP or FB. (I do not have a reference design for this in isolated topology yet)

When it comes to LM3481 itself, I would recommend to use LM5155 instead, as this device is newer, has better availability and better pricing.

    Best regards,
    Niklas
