TPS40210 latch up

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS40210

Hi Team,

Dose TPS40210 has latch up function? if pull the comp pin to low, what happend?

FB pin's reference voltage 0.7V, if higher or lower than 0.7V what happend?

thanks

  • Hi Red,

If pull the comp pin low, TPS40210 should not latchup, unless its voltage is lower than ground by the ESD diode voltage drop, ~0.7V. In that case, it may latchup.

If comp pin is pulled low, output voltage goes down to pull FB pin voltage goes below reference voltage. The feedback control loop will try to pull up comp pin voltage, but the pull-up of error amplifier is weak, in the range of several hundreds of uA.

    Regards,

    Na

  • Hi NA Kong,

    thanks for your promptly reply,

but for my test, when pull comp pin low , TPS40210 will shut down and latch up immediately, meanwhile comp pin will keep to 0.9V to 1V and device can not operation again till input UVLO do you know why?

    thank you

  • Hi Red,

You mentioned "COMP pin voltage of 0.9V to 1V", is this voltage value before or after the latch-off? What is your typical pull-down resistance used for COMP pin pull-down? What does the SS pin waveform look like?

    Thanks and regards, Jin-Biao
