UCD3K Isolated Supply

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD9248, UCD8220

Brad,

we have met the customer with local TI support and analyzed the board.

The customer tried to design the isolated power supply based on UCD9248 and UCD8220 but failed to calculate the paramteres for digital control loop. This was so because this pair is not modelled in the Fusion digital power designer.

What he needs is to design a power supply with input 75-155 V AC/DC and output 50V DC 1-6A, 3 channels. This power supply has to come with monitoring (possibility to send log of Vin, Vout, Iout etc to MCU - locomotive safety system).

We have found that there is a solution based on UCD30k called TIFF (we could choose it from the dialog in Fusion power designer). Are we right that this solution fit the spec above? If yes, could you pls give us asap BOM and design docs for it. Also your recommendation to modify it are welcomed!

  • You may want to repost to the Isolated Power section of the forum, this is where UCD3K questions are handled as the Digital Power section deals with non-isolated UCD92xx designs only.

The TTIF sample project file would apply only to the UCD3K controller for which it was developed, it could not be imported to the UCD9248.

  • UCD3K represents a family of digital power controller targeting isolated dc-dc applications as well as PFC. If the application you mentioned requires the isolation or PFC, UCD3K is the right choice.

In general, its users are required to develop their own system while we provide supporting material such as GUI and firmware libraries. For large volume customers, we can provide additional support.

Please send a message to hong_huang@ti.com to find out what we can do for you.
