Where can I get .senc files for the particular gas guaging ICs?
Thanks for reply. Earlier we were using BQ34z950 for 2 different battery combinations, however I'm a novice to this technology. Recently we have changed the battery pack configuration. Our battery pack configuration is 2S3P. By following the connections in the datasheet given VC5, VC4 and VC3 are connected to the respective nodes whereas VC2 and VC1 are shorted to the VC3.
The problem is we were not getting the voltage at the battery pack output. The FET connected at the output is not turning ON. I even provided the external voltage to the Pack+ and Pack-. After providing voltage the device got detected in EVSW and communication has been initiated but there is no voltage at the output of the pack.
After that how to proceed further to configure the gas guaging ic to get required output. I'm sharing my current SBS window.
The gauge's protector detected an Over Temperature in Discharge and Cell Under Voltage condition. Please make sure that both are corrected (or change the protection thresholds accordingly, see 2.1.1 and 2.1.4 in https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluua93b/sluua93b.pdf).
Thankyou. So I need to update dataflash CUV Threshold, Recovery values and Over Temperature Dsg, OT Dsg Recovery right. But when I'm switching to DataFlash window it pops up an error which reads as "The DataFlash configuration file does not match the detected target! Select Yes to proceed at your own risk" (Image attached below).
When I move forward by clicking Yes, the DataFlash window appears. (Image attached below).
Further I import the .gg file with the updated values of thresholds and recovery the values get updated in DataFlash window. But when I click the "Write All" button it pops up the error which reads as " The last Read All had errors. EVSW is unable to preserve data integrity. The write operation will be aborted! An automatic "Read all" will be initiated! " shown in image below.
When I press ok it pops up communication error which reads " Error reading data flash Subclass BQ2050 config, Code = 772."
Please correct me if I'm doing something wrong, please suggest me the steps to proceed further.
Is it problem related to EVSW. I need bq EVSW setup for bq20z655-R1.
Please confirm which gauge you are using. The headline says bq20z65-R1, bq34z950 and your last posting says bq20z655-R1.
EVSW for bq20z65-R1 should work with bq20z655-R1. Your screenshots show that you selected the bq34z950. Please select the bq20z65 instead.
Yes Sir, after this I have used the bq evsw for bq20z65-R1. In Dataflash it is giving me error and Im unable to write the dataflash. I have exported the default file succefully but when I'm trying to import the default file or if I'm updating some value in dataflash and clicking on WRITE it pops up an error which says, "Unable to write data flash, last read all has errors". Because of this Im unable to change any parameter. Please help on this. NOTE: The same flags as above CUV and OTD has set.
CUV means cell under voltage. The gauge won't allow writes to data flash if voltage is too low (depends on configuration). Please make sure that the cell is charged before writing to the gauge.
I have checked the cell voltage and battery pack voltage which is around the nominal voltage. Currently I'm using 2 series and 3 parallel combination I measured the pack voltage which is 7.22V.
For clearing CUV and OTD conditions I have to Write DataFlash, but these conditions restrict me from writing the DataFlash. I think the reason for CUV might be, as the fresh gauge IC contains default settings for 4 cell series combination hence the expected battery pack voltage is around 14.8 V. But I'm currently using the 2 series cell combination hence the measured voltage is around 7.22 V which is low as per the default settings in gauge. So, I need to change the default conditions or the configuration in the gauge for that need to write into the DataFlash. Please help and correct me if I'm wrong.
Hey Ashutosh,
If you have any further questions, Dominik is currently out of office, but he should be able to answer them next week.

Nick Richards
Hello Sir,
As you told I have temporarily hooked up a 4s battery. So, my first objective is to change the Cell configuration to 2s. It can be changed by updating value of Operation Cfg A, right?. The Protection flags are cleared by this but still I'm not able to Read all and hence Write any parameter. The error Im getting during read all is "Unable to read dataflash subclass manufacturer info 772 error code".
I dont know if I'm using the right bqevsw, the guage I'm using is bq20z655 and evsw I'm using is bq20z65R1 v1.05. I'm getting pop up message at the start as "The detected device is not compatible with the application! Proceed at your own risk". After clicking it ok and moving further again while opening dataflash window I'm getting message as "The Dataflash configuration file target does not match the detected target".
Please look into it. Attaching screen shot below for your reference.
Hello Ashutosh,
Dominik is still out of office, he will return next week.

Hey Ashutosh,
Unfortunately, there is no one else on the team that is familiar with this gauge.

Nick Richards
Hello Nick,
Ok I'll tryout from my side till then on this guage.
Also after resolving this we are planning to shift on a new guage. Could you suggest me the latest guage for 1 to 4 cell.
Best Regards,
Ashutosh Kedare
Hey Ashutosh,
The BQ40z50 will be the latest gauge that supports up to 4 cells.

Nick Richards
Please use this EVSW instead: https://e2e.ti.com/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/196/bqEVSWSetup00.09.86_5F00_bq20z655v0.04R1.exe
Hello Dominik,
I'll try this EVSW. Thanks for the resolution I'll update you soon. Meanwhile I was trying on another gauge too. I have configured it but there I'm facing low charging current issue in that guage I'll post this query in detail into another thread to avoid confusion here.
