BQ34Z100EVM: the target bqz container is old and needs to be updated - BQStudio 1.3.124 - Fw 0x0202

Part Number: BQ34Z100EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, BQ34Z100, , GPCCHEM

Hello TI team,

Technical information:
OS System: Windows 11
BQStudio 1.3.124
BQ34Z100EVM-Board
Fw Update (bq34z100_v2_02_00_31.exe)

After receiving my BQ34Z100EVM, it was initially recognized incorrectly.
I downloaded the latest firmware from your website.
I flashed the .srec (bq34z100_v2_02_00_31) with BQStudio via programming and moved the .bqz file manually into the folder C:\ti\BatteryManagementStudio\config.

Then I restarted BQStudio and now the selection was immediately skipped and the 0100_2_02 was preselected and started.
Now I performed a chemistry update (ChemUpdate1077.zip) and selected a suitable battery.
In this test, I selected a lithium thionyl chloride battery from the chemistry list.
It then transferred the update and indicated that it was successful, but also indicated that my bqz file was out of date.

Have I made a mistake? Do I need to download something else or has the bqz file in bq34z100_v2_02_00_31 not been updated yet?

It is also interesting that despite the correct chemistry ID selection, the visualization shows that the battery has only 6% or even 0%. the current is also rated 0.

  • Hi,

Looks like you took the proper steps, can you send me a screenshot of the error messages you are receiving.

Can you share the Chem Report you received and the data you input.

    Regards,

    Evan

  • Sorry for the late response,

I have updated to the latest chemistry database(1082), but the error described above still occurs (as there was no update from the bqz file).

For your understanding, I am using a non-rechargeable thionyl chloride lithium battery with the chemistry ID 0653 for testing purposes

The battery is therefore only connected via Bat + and Bat - to ensure that the battery is not charged.

For a later scenario I will try to measure a lead acid battery with it.

(where I change J5 to avoid destroying the board).

  • Hi,

I am unsure why you are getting this error if you have already moved the appropriate .bqz file.

I would verify that the ChemID has changed and if so, you can ignore this error.

One thing I would like to note is that you do not simply pick a ChemID with similar chemistry and capacity, this will most likely will not return the best accuracy. To ensure the best accuracy please follow the document linked below and input the data into GPCCHEM tool linked below.
