TPS54360B-Q1: Force design to operate in CCM mode

Hi Team,

I would like to know if I can force the design to operate in Continuous conduction mode(CCM) in TPS54360B-Q1 design irrespective of the load current.

It is also mentioned in the datasheet that the load current at which the device changes its mode is based on the Output Inductor value.

Could you provide the equations for that as well?

  • Hi Alen,

    Thank you for posting.  Sorry you cannot do it, because the TPS54360B-Q1 employs a diode as the rectifier, therefore it cannot support CCM when the output load current is above 0.5x the inductor ripple current. To stay in CCM regardless  the load current, you will need to use an buck regulator using synchronize rectifier (namely a low side MSOFET replacing the rectifier diode).  For instance LMR38025, or LM63635.
